Introduces fundamental concepts in forensics and security control. It provides essential knowledge and skills for digital forensic auditors. This includes examination of the range of commonly accepted digital forensic audit methods and tools. It also introduces the principles that underlie assurance of the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of information assets.

Any one of these:

• CSCI 2910 with a C or better
• CSCI 2210 with a C or better
• Permission of instructor

• Install and configure various computer forensics software packages.
• Acquire digital evidence from hard drives, USB devices, and live systems.
• Analyze Windows registry digital artifacts (Student Outcome 3)
• Use regular expressions to extract relevant digital forensics information.
• Apply industry standard digital forensics methodologies for the preservation of case evidence.
