Catalog Description
Introduces how to scan, test, hack and secure computer systems and networks. It addresses how perimeter defenses work and how to scan and attack networks without harming them. It shows how intruders escalate privileges and how to secure a system. It also explains intrusion detection, policy creation, social engineering, DDoS Attacks, buffer overflows, and virus creation.
Prerequisite(s)
Any one of these:
- CSCI 2210 with a C or better
- CSCI 2910 with a C or better
- Permission of instructor
Course Outcomes
- Identify common attack vectors based upon a given target.
- Understand, review and critique current attacks that have occurred in public.
- Create attack platforms for exploiting web-based technologies.
- Evaluate how a given attack can be mitigated so future breaches can be avoided.
- Apply various encryption attack methodologies based upon the discovered cypher algorithm. ( Student Outcome CY1 )
